«Every man can be, if he so chooses, the sculptor of his own brain.» - Ramón y Cajal

Naturally a nomad, born in Costa Rica and Panamanian by acquisition. During high school is when I began to feel fascinated by the brain and how it affects a human being’s behavior. I graduated from a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Florida State University in 2008. Two years later, I began my Master’s in Clinical Neuropsychology of Children and Adults from the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona and graduated in 2013. At the same time, I was completing a Master’s in Clinical Psychology of Children and Adolescents from ISEP.

My curiosity for understanding human complexities, specifically the brain, have determined my professional path. It first lead me to the adolescent world when I began working at the Metropolitan School of Panama in 2013, eventually becoming the Counselor for 6th-12th graders. I have always been able to connect with teenagers and understand the problems they undergo through these formative years.

I firmly believe that an affected brain will be expressed in different ways for each individual; because of this it is best to undergo a thorough evaluation and treatment needs to be personalized. An essential part of the process towards improvement is during the evaluation since this is the time to study all functions of the brain. Cognitive rehabilitation is the process to follow to be able to maintain, recover and compensate any function that needs to be worked on.

Through my evaluation and therapeutic work at HMS I wish to provide the patient with a space where he or she can improve and this can be reflected in his day-to-day life as well as promote knowledge of what Neuropsychology entails.

I offer my services in Spanish and English.

«Every achievement begins with the decision to try.» Gail Devers

I am Panamanian, originally from the beautiful province of Colón. I am convinced that studying is the key to opportunities and that perseverance is a great internal strength that motivates and can lead you to achieve your dreams and goals.

From a very young age, I have been involved with children and youth with special needs at the Panamanian Institute for Special Needs (IPHE) Colón branch. This experience was very enriching for me and positively shaped my life. Interacting with these children, their parents and teachers made me understand at such a young age that all human beings are equal by our human nature, but at the same time, we are all different and unique due to our abilities, skills and qualities that make us special, valuable, and distinct from one another.

Today, I am a licensed psychologist with a Master’s Degree in Psychopedagogy specializing in learning disabilities. During my academic training, I provided support to children of the New Generation Movement, located in El Chorrillo, and I have experience working with learning disabilities in the public school system.

I currently offer my services privately at Holistic Mind Steps, where I work with children and adolescents. I offer assessments and interventions for learning difficulties and cognitive impairments that affect the lives and academic progress of these individuals.

I love, enjoy and live my profession with passion and affection. I respect diversity and individual differences, and believe firmly that we all have different ways, styles and rhythms of learning. For this reason, I always like to stay up-to-date on topics related to psychology, education and learning difficulties to offer you comprehensive support.

«Be the change you wish to see in the world.» Gandhi

I am one of the founding members of HMS/Purolove. I like movies, reading and practicing all sports specially water ones. I love nature and the ocean for the energy that it´s shared with me; that way I feel connected with the universe and all of its vibration. I think life should be lived, taking every moment good or bad as an integral part of it. Living each moment in complete awareness and enjoy all the beautiful things that the universe brings to us. I think human beings are fascinating. Sometimes they stumble with rocks on their path and sometimes they fall; I love having the opportunity to help them with life tools, thus they can move or kick those rocks and move forward in harmony and in peace with themselves and their surroundings. Help them to live life in abundance and gratitude.

We wanted to create with HMS a harmonious and serene place where people felt calm and could be helped in a holistic manner considering all of their dimensions of mind, body and spirit. In HMS I am an individual, couples, families and mental health therapist. Also, I manage the holistic health with natural supplements. «Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning how to dance in the rain.» -Vivian Greene

I am a proud Panamanian, but I recognize that there are improvements to be made. I value education as a means for our human resource to increase the quality of life at a global level. I have faith that an individual can change the world and I have dedicated my life to help people so that they can be that positive force. I work every day to practice what I preach and balance myself a bit more in mind, body and spirit, but I acknowledge that my main effort to date has been mental. I love to read and stay abreast of the most recent psychiatric developments, which are seeing their most rapid growth since the birth of the specialty. Each day I learn about the interrelation between all our systems and their effect on our mental health in the short and long term, which mirror the interrelation between us all.

My interest in medicine came from my maternal grandfather (humanitarian neurosurgeon) and my passion for mental health through mi rotations in medicine where I would spend more time talking with and listening to my patients than my colleagues. I soon realized that these patients felt more satisfied with their care and their health and would improve quicker, no matter which specialty I was rotating through. I had the opportunity to do research on the effects of lack of sleep, maternal depression and domestic violence on children. During my psychiatric rotations, I consolidated the idea that for optimal wellness one needed to work integrally. For this reason, when I arrived back in Panama and met Analida, we decided to create Holistic Mind Steps (HMS), a health clinic where we work with the whole person in mind, body and spirit, so that they may achieve the optimal version of themselves. In HMS, in addition to helping with the administration of the clinic, I am one of the psychiatrists.
